The workshop brought together key stakeholders, both in person and virtually, from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Burundi, Botswana, Malawi, Rwanda, United Kingdom, France and South Africa. The event sparked several actionable commitments, including the establishment of National Hydrographic Committees, prioritization of inland water surveys, adoption of S-101 standards by 2029, and strategic investments in modern hydrographic infrastructure. Calls were also made for public-private partnerships, national awareness campaigns, and legal reforms to strengthen compliance with hydrographic services in the Great Lakes.
