- Conduct studies on global and regional shipping patterns, trends and emerging issues (e.g. ship registry, trading routes and costs, blue economy potential, etc.)
- Advocate for the development of national and regional maritime policies, legislation, protocols, treaties, etc
- Advocate for the harmonization of maritime legal and regulatory frameworks across member states.
- Facilitate research in areas like new energy sources and technologies, new ship designs and materials, ports optimization, etc
- Advocate for the adoption of and compliance to international maritime regulations such as IMO Conventions
